Colocation Services

The Web Presence Group can colocate your server in our network operations center. Our colocation services offer the following:
  • Physical location in one of our standard 19" equipment racks.
  • Battery and Generator power backup.
  • 100-Base-T (Fast Ethernet) connection to our switches.
  • Monitoring by our 24 hour monitoring system.

The pricing for colocation is a combination of two separate cost elements:

  1. eia rack spacing illustration Rack Space Fees - $15 per EIA (1 3/4" vertical) rack unit (min $45). This fee element covers power, cooling, physical real-estate, monitoring and other non-bandwidth costs. If your server takes up 7" of vertical rack space (4 rack units of 1 3/4") your rack space fees would be $15 x 4 = $60 per month.
  2. Bandwidth - $150 per 128Kbps. We connect you directly to our switches giving you full burst rates through the network. We monitor the actual bandwidth used in 5-minute averages, then charge you based on the 95th percentile of the 5-minute averages. This way, you can occasionally burst very high data rates and still pay for a low average usage. For more information about bandwidth, Click Here.

The equipment to be colocated must meet the following criteria:

  • rackmount equipment shelf Fit within a standard 19" rack - Racks have side rails for mounting or we can install a shelf (see photo). The horizontal clearance between rack mounting rails is about 18". If we install a shelf, this reduces the horizontal clearance to about 17.25". The maximum depth is 30". Rackmount cases are preferred to shelf mounting.
  • Uses 120V, 60Hz AC power.
  • Has one 10-Base-T or 100-Base-T Ethernet connection (RJ45 connectors on Cat 5 cable will be used to connect to our switches.
  • If the equipment requires Keyboard, Mouse, or Video connections we will supply all cables to the peripherals. We will supply standard AT or PS2 keyboard and mouse connections, and VGA video. Other peripheral requirements must be met with supplied equipment or adapters to the standard equipment must be supplied.
